High-density polyethylene (HDPE) or polyethylene high-density (PEHD) is a polyethylene thermoplastic made from petroleum. HDPE has little branching, giving it stronger intermolecular forces and tensile strength than LDPE. It is also harder and more opaque and can withstand temperatures upto 60 Degree C for continuous service. HDPE offers excellent resistance to concentrated acids, alcohols and bases. It is approved for direct contact with any food related products. HDPE has good impact strength, light weight, very low moisture absorption and high tensile strength

Pressure Piping
Piping made from polyethylene is a cost effective solution for a broad range of piping requirements in municipal, industrial, marine, mining, landfill, duct and, buried, slip-lined , floating, and sub-surface marine applications. High-density polyethylene pipe (HDPE) can carry potable water, wastewater, slurries, chemicals, hazardous wastes, and compressed gases. Polyethylene pipe has a long and distinguished history of service to the gas, oil, mining and other industries. It has the lowest repair frequency per mile of pipe per year compared with all other pressure pipe materials .Advantages of HDPE Pipe are:
- HDPE is inert material and best suitable for potable water. Therefore there is no aging of the shell during the life span. Manufactured using food grade material
- HDPE does not support algae growth thus offering maintenance free tank over years of usage.
- Amiantit tanks are made from specially formulated UV Stabilized material to withstand overall UV radiation in Middle East Countries. This ensures long life of the Tank
- HDPE tanks are abrasion resistant, flexible, light weight and available in fully fabricated configuration. Installation is therefore a short time affair with easier material handling equipment. This results in cost savings.
- HDPE tanks can be relocated and capacity expansion is possible quickly by way of installation of multiple tanks and interconnections. All these can happen in no time as the tanks are available in fully fabricated configurations. Thus more flexibility is available to customer in resource utilization and cost optimization.
Amiantit Oman, the licensee of KWH Finland for the GCC countries is manufacturing HDPE pressure pipes in diameters from 25mm to 1200mm.
Pressure Pipe Joining System:
HDPE Solid wall Pipes are joined to each other by fusion or mechanical fittings. The most widely used method for joining individual lengths of polyethylene pipe / fittings are by butt fusion method. The principle of heat fusion is to heat two surfaces to a designated temperature, and then fuse them together by application of sufficient force. This force causes the melted materials to flow and mix, thereby resulting in fusion. When fused according to the pipe and / or fittings manufacturer’s procedures, the joint area becomes as strong as or stronger than the pipe itself in both tensile and pressure properties. As soon as the joint cools to near ambient temperature, it is ready for handling.

Non Pressure Piping
Recognizing clients’ needs for large diameter lightweight low pressure pipes and fittings, KWH Pipe Ltd of Finland developed WEHOLITE, a lightweight non-pressure pipe constructed using a patented structured wall process. Weholite Pipe Joining System.
Various jointing methods are available to suit different application requirements. The most commonly used is thermal extrusion welding. Extrusion welding provides an economical and fast method of delivering a complete, long, continuous length of pipe. The joints are as strong as the pipe itself, providing a continuous leak proof system.

HDPE Fittings:
Amiantit Oman caters to the pressure and non pressure HDPE Fittings by supplying injection molded HDPE fittings from the European Associations (Agru and Reinert-Ritz ) and mitred fabricated fittings from Amiantit Oman manufacturing range.

HDPE tanks are the long term solutions for storage of hygienic water, industrial chemicals & sewage. HDPE tanks are manufactured from twin walled box-section Weholite shell offering double layer. Inside hollow spiral acts as thermal insulation which provides lesser storage water temperature. Advantages of HDPE tanks are:

Amiantit Oman HDPE division maintains complete quality control from raw material to finished pipe product by establishing string manufacturing specifications. The division possesses a fully equipped laboratory to ensure all products confirm to their respective standards. Ring Stiffness, dimensional accuracy, heat reversionary, acetone resistance, opacity, impact strength, hydrostatic, and tensile strength tests are some of the tests conducted on HDPE products.
